Two statements when taken together (1. 100% of any damages awarded, protecting them from the cost of paying success fees typically levied by alternative legal services provider and 2. It's legal services division is not expected to make a material contribution to overall profits) lead me to the conclusion that DLG are intent on taken out the “opposition” ie solicitors in private practice.. We cannot increase premiums to make up for the loss so how can we compete. It is the same old story, you offer your services below break-even, take out the competition and put up your prices. We are half-way there.
This will put even more solicitors out of business and then who is going to help the public with different legal problems.
The only glimmer of hope is to remember what Surveyors thought when just anyone was allowed to sell houses. They thought the end had come—but it hadn’t!
