I wonder what the corner shops and neighbourhood grocers thought when Sainsbury, Tesco and their ilk started opening supermarkets. Something like: 'Oh, they'll never catch on. Give it time and our customers will be back here enjoying our range and prices' . I fear that the glimmer of hope may just be the guttering of the candle before it goes out.
