The issue here is that Mr Dalton is representing the ABI and the view of Defendant insurers. It is no surprise that his view is somewhat contraversial and this is what he is paid to do, to provoke debate.

Interesting to note the obvious anti insurance bias, however, insurers are not the devil, the vast majority do want to do what's right by injured Claimants. That said, the statement from Mr Dalton is from the industry representative, it was always going to be on the extreme side, just as APIL and MASS issue articles on a similar vain on behalf of the Claimant fraternity.

I note with interest that a number of respondents have asked what the Law Society is doing about this. I for one, hope they are doing nothing. As a Defendant Solicitor the law society should be representing my interests just as much as the interests of Claimant Solicitors. Indeed, the Law Society should be a shining beacon of light cutting through the mist of the adversarial rhetoric of the different sides to work to bring harmony and peace. If both sides work together, and genuinely work together then a solution is out there to be found, and the Claimant's can keep their compensation for the injuries that they have genuinely sustained.
