Is it not one of my human rights not to have all this HRA nonsense stuffed down my throat? Prior to HRA we had a number of similar, common law developed, protections enshrined in our law which had served us well for centuries.

A human right is like an elephant, you don't have to be able to define one to recognise one.

What next? Courses on how to behave in the presence of a client? If you cannot instinctively recognise a human right you should not be in the profession. And by defining them, invariably imprecisely, you end up being unable to return convicted mafia bosses back to Italy for imprisonment, but do return al Magrachie to Lybia to die at home amongst family and friends. And that after he blew an airliner up killing hundreds of passengers and eight inhabitants of
Lockerbie. (I accept that is a weak example as the decision was under Scots law, but our courts would have reached the same decision under HRA).

It is a whole load of total madness. Common sense is all you need and the attempts to define what that is inevitably lets some examples through the net.
