I wonder why applications to the Property TribunalTo determine the terms of acquisition of a new lease or of the freehold under the Leasehold Reform Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 are free? Why should the taxpayer fund such applications rather than those who are making the applications?It is difficult to justify charging an unemployed person to apply to an employment tribunal yet subsidising an application by a property owner to acquire a new lease or buy the freehold of his property.
