Can anyone remember when the fixed costs were last increased. I can't. The Court fees go up and up, and the fixed costs remain static. What is the rationale behind this? The fixed costs for issuing a warrant of execution have been £2.25 for a very long time.
Not that long ago the County Courts used to make a surplus. Has the business model really changed, or has the creation of HMCTS resulted in the costs of other activities - tribunals etc - being subsidised by the County Court user?
