"hollowing out our international role"?
What's that - spending billions to kill far away innocent people (and the odd British 'squaddie') in the futile pretence of establishing democracy? More billions on patrolling the seas with a submerged nuclear 'deterrent' that we couldn't even have used at the height of the Cold War? Sending millions in much needed aid to corrupt regimes who put most of it in their own pockets, spending only as much as needed to keep popular revolt at bay?
Do tell me the wonderful returns we taxpayers have had on this money in the last 50 years.
