"The services of a McKenzie friend should be absolutely free"

- Whilst there is clearly a need for regulation, there must surely be an argument for an individual unable to afford legal fees of £200/hour being able to avail themselves of paid for advice at a significantly lower rate.

If those charging the likes of £200/hour can offer advice and representation deemed good value for money in comparison to paid McKenzie friends what have they got to fear?

The 'closed shop' element of the legal world, with many prevented from qualifying due to the exhorbitant fees, then prevented from obtaining training contracts because "the face doesn't fit" has created this gap in the market
