I am a Defendant Solicitor. Let's be clear. The vast majority of personal injury claimants are people who have genuinely sustained an injury and deserve to be appropriately compensated.

The vast majority of Solicitors like John Hall will probably only ever see a fist full of questionable claims in his lifetime. That is no criticism of John but more that he clearly works for a firm with a reputation for having a no nonsense approach to fraud and thus, those members of society who will chance bogus claims would go elsewhere.

Claims fraud, across the board (and not just personal injury claims) cost the insurance industry over £2 billion pounds last year. Fraud exists, just because you do not see it doesn;t mean it is not prevailant in our society.

There are numerous accident management companies and claimant solicitors firms who seem to be a magnet for this type of thing, however, the lack of evidence is a commercially sensitive thing. ombating fraud is all about intelligence, if that intelligence is disclosed it becomes worthless.

I know some claimant firms who have been privy to that sort of intelligence and they now finally accept that there is an issue. The key is to work together to stamp out these fraudulent claims so that our insurance premiums come down......whilst protecting the rights of genuinely injured claimants.
