My erstwhile principal, James Webster of Eastbourne, never arrived earlier than 8.45 and never left the office much after 5.30 p m and, so far as I am aware he never took work home with him, nor did he work at the week-ends. When once as his articled clerk I took a file home he almost reprimanded me saying " You should not be taking work home at this stage in your career, David". And he appeared to make a very comfortable living.

But that was before compulsory PII and ABSs, the, more or less complete, abolition of legal aid, diversity questionnaires, etc, etc. Those were the days.

However, I thank goodness every day that my two children are happy, healthy and successful and feel for any parents who do not enjoy that good fortune,Eduardo. Good luck with the trials and tribulations you, your wife and children have ahead of you
