I have grave concerns about a PDS for 2 reasons:

Firstly, the stories told to me by visiting undergraduates from the USA, whilst I was at University. They told of poorly qualified and inexperienced PDA's, working for low salaries, with huge caseloads, providing a general poor service to those Defendants who had no financial choice but to use them. As anyone with an ounce of sense knows, the rich in the USA retain their own 'LA Lawesque' Hired Guns to represent them.

Secondly, would any of those in favour of a PDS relish the prospect of challenging powerful Government, one's own employer (!), when acting on behalf of certain Defendants? I was a Civil Servant before I entered the profession and take it from me, HMG is NOT an employer one want to upset, if you wish to retain your employment and/or pay-grade, and/or career!
