The survey could go further and ask "why" these statistics are as they are. Could it be that, presently, lawyers feel unsupported, undervalued and without direction within their careers? Those at the start of their careers are wondering what they have got into when there are those post 10 years qualified wondering when they will become Partner and those that are Partners merely seeing out their years until retirement.
There are ways and choices to feel better within the profession. Teamwork, client/customer service and dispute resolution training can help all members of a firm work more efficiently together to improve both pastoral care and the service supplied to clients. Without a doubt it can improve the health, motivation and well being of all Lawyers.
