Tim, you paint a beautiful picture of how things once were, but sadly we shall never see them again . Reading your post is like seeing a film of pre-war Britain. And the common feature is that with all this so-called 'progress' things work less well.

Now we learn that a High Court judge cannot get Jackson right, only Jackson understands Jackson correctly. Well, if a High Court judge gets it wrong, what chance is there for the rest of us?

With the White Book there were periodic PDs amending things on a piecemeal basis when problems, or gaps, were identified. Woolf decided he knew better than anyone else, or at least that he wanted a legacy. Now Jackson is up to the same tricks, but I fear he is just a sheep in sheep's clothing.

And why ever did plaintiffs have to become claimants?
