My Lord, you appear to be a counsel of perfection, but when I was in practice and running 400-500 files I would have been very hard pressed to produce a detailed cost estimate if ordered to do so on 5 June and to file it on or before 11 June, in a case of the significance of Mitchell.

If I had 500 files on the go and worked four chargeable hours a day five days a week, or 80 hours a lunar month, each file would get on average about 10 minutes attention per four weeks. I don't know how long it takes to produce a costs estimate, I would guess a couple of hours. Is it really realistic to ask a busy practitioner in a two principal firm with one fee-earner on maternity leave to find that sort of time in a window of four days. As it was it was completed in eight, one day before the hearing and no one was inconvenienced,

A woman posted on here in similar terms to yourself about a month ago and there was a flood of criticism of her haughty remarks. I shall try to see if I can find her name. You might care to ask her out for a drink, if you can find the time, of course...
