"Civil servants hope to persuade law firms to pay court fees by direct debit rather than cheque." My firm has been desperately trying to avoid cheques and the time and cost involved and pay electronically wherever possible, although I completely take Dominic Cooper's points about the potential screw ups the court might make if it was done by DD. However, an option to pay by online bank transfer would be welcome. The idea that it's the court trying to get solicitors to modernise though is amusing. Yesterday, I had a client call asking for a copy of her Decree Nisi as I'd told her it was due to be pronounced (and also said in my letter that I'd send on a copy to her when I received it from the court). However, she thought I'd have received a copy the same day by email or text. Ha ha ha!!
