As a Crown Prosecutor on complex frauds I have often used telephone evidence so who phoned who and when to show the links between conspirators. As I understand it this bill will seek to preserve this evidence for future use in digital communications. What is so heinous about this? It is not it would appear about preserving the content of the communication for later reading and analysis which would be a wholly different scenario. Let's calm down and allow parliament to govern.
