When I began in practice the most common reason for solicitors being disciplined after breaches of the Accounts Rules was advertising. Why not just ban it again? Then the massive amounts spent on the stuff will no longer have to be spent. And my TV watching will not be rudely interrupted by QS or whoever.

But those were the good old days which old fogeys like me remember with quaint affection e g no compulsory PII, The White Book and The Green Book, pre-Woolf, pre-Jackson, legal aid generally available, the Green Form Scheme, pre-Financial Services Act, solicitors acting for vendor and purchaser, pre-CLC, … They are beginning to sound better than good.
