I`m neutral about an inducements ban and whichever way you look at it it doesn`t make sense for CMCs to be banned from offering `em whilst Solicitors can. But advertising is a different thing- if the law is you can claim for PI worth over 1k (we all understand what i mean here just portraying it in shorthand) then what can be wrong with drawing injured folks attention to their rights. Agree on balance more may/will claim but it must be good that more people get justice-- why would we want some savvy people to know what do/where to go but not others?
It irks me that Wonga et al and Bet Fred etc are fine to advertise
and a v great chunk of your car insurance premium (thats compulsory insurance) goes on Meerkats and the like but because of a little too much Daily Mail reading and not enough considering the real position (rather than the "perception of a culture") that folk and legislators think that PI ads will destroy the free world.
The debate should be about the small claims track limit for PI - not advertising - I am firmly for no increase but understand others take a different view-- lets at least have an honest debate about the real point at hand.
