The legal profession is gradually moving to accept the fact that it's members are human beings with emotions.

I have been a member of our profession for 25 years and have worked in a myriad of different legal environments.

The common denominator throughout this time has been that mental illness is misunderstood. It is not visible or tangible. Lawyers in the main rely on their ability to disseminate and understand problems. When faced with something like mental illness, the reaction is all to often to dismiss the same as a sign of weakness.

If any of my peers are suffering. Please, please contact Lawcare, speak to a doctor, chat with a friend.

Mental illness is not a sign of weakness. It is often a sign of someone caring too much or trying too hard.
