Will the media, in their rather unlikely character as Family Court Watchdog, give any corresponding undertaking to report what goes on with any degree of accuracy? You have only to look at the hopelessly misleading report of the Mail in the Chhatbar case to see how little interest they have in actually reporting what the Court is doing and why,

As for the reports in the serious press about the case of the Italian woman who had to be given a caesarian, and subsequent care proceedings, from the Guardian's effort you'd have thought the Judge had handed the social workers a big old knife and sent them off to cut the baby out themselves.

Unless the press can report accurately and responsibly, I'd be very sorry to see them given any more access than they have now.
