Richard. Nope, I've never been stung by a lawyer. I was wise enough to LIP myself and do a job, if not better, than a lawyer could and saved myself tens of thousands in the process.
So you are telling me that LA set a fee around the £40ph mark? Hmmmm, that's funny as I've recently seen a break down of a lawyers LA fees. £40 for a letter that took 10mins to write and £240 to fill in a c100....SHOCKING!
And no I am not wrong. It is a known fact that lawyers will urge their clients to make spurious allegations, if not feed them with such, as they know that the other party will respond, thus making more money...it's how people roll as such.
To concur, a friends LA certificate was originally capped at £15k.... she applied and got more. Not bad for a 9 court hearings and a couple of bits of paper.
The abolishment of LA is the most productive thing to happen in family law for decades...good riddance to it. It has screwed many children s lives up. Some positive the Govt have done for a change concerning family law.
