This is the most ridiculous article ever. What about imagining a robot that can surf the internet and read newspapers before preparing insightful and informative articles automatically. Are the Law Gazette’s writers worried about this future? Are they paying sufficient attention to developments in technology?
The truth is that the same warnings in this article can be said for any profession, whether it be doctors, architects etc. Once you have some form of AI, the need for human thought specifically can be replaced.
When one thinks about it, lawyers are probably right not to worry about AI – at least compared to other professions. The law is not black and white. It is all grey - meaning one would need quite an advanced form of AI to replace human ingenuity and thoughtfulness to interpret the law in a way that suite the client. Can the same be said regarding diagnosing many medical conditions?
