Michael Martin, the children will be represented by a guardian and that guardian will have a solicitor. However, if the guardian will not support the parents, and frankly most don't, then the parents end up in a fight with the guardian as well as the local authority. The latter is highly unlikely to want to support the expensive option of supporting the family to stay together. Hence the parents need representation in addition to the children being represented.
