As a family practitioner I frequently give clients information about mediation and encourage them to self-refer. Many clients are struggling financially and we offer a range of services to help them save costs, including encouraging them to do things for themselves where practical.

I would say that at present, at least 50% of my clients who seek mediation are technically self referring, I can only think of one who was a genuine self-referral (i.e. they had contacted the mediator before seeing me or getting any other legal advice) But as I didn't fill in the forms or send them off, the others will all, presumably, show in the statistics as self-referred.
