A plumber's call out fee of say a minimum of £70 is now more than the old rate per hour that solicitors were paid for advocacy in a trial! And I believe that rate never increased after about 1995. No doubt someone will put me right on that! Of course the whole fees thing has changed since more recently but as I packed in a few years ago I'm not up to speed on it.
