This result is hardly surprising. GP's are a pretty soft target for this type of survey. They are by definition used to giving treatment that's paid for by the taxpayer, and making a very comfortable living themselves from the public purse. That public sector mindset would generally tend to support the view that legal advice should be available on the same basis.

The vast majority of people with benefits or debt problems don't need advice from a solicitor. They just need it from someone qualified to advise on benefits and debt.
