Anonymous 10:40. Some fair points made, but there is plenty of evidence of call centres acting unscrupulously too. For example using stolen data, refusing to reveal their true identities, telling people that insurers have set aside for them, saying they are the insurers, saying that they are part of goverment schemes etc.. The list goes on. I think this element is what people object to and probably damages the reputation of legit outfits.
