I think pre-nips should be more frequently used. In France it is very common to enter into a Contrat de Marriage and the law there allows for it to be done up to 365 days before the wedding ceremony, or after it. At the civil ceremony in the town hall the mayor or his deputy states publicly whether or not there is such a contract in existence.

They would save a lot of trouble and expense assuming the courts were to say that only in exceptional circumstances would their terms be varied on a divorce.
