I remember it too David, it was £50 when I was sat in the dungeons of an office in the 80s opposite Birmingham Magistrates Court.

Sadly the scheme did suffer from abuse, but the vast majority of us were doing the job right I suspect.

What concerns me is the brazen way the MOJ are introducing this - and if fees were plotted on a graph next to inflation, one would see a horizontal line next to a near vertical line.

I'm desperately anxious about this. How on earth can the Government seriously talk about access to justice on the one hand, and then slam a person wanting justice with this?
