Ian, I employed Ian Lucas M P (Wrexham, Labour) when he stood in 1997 in N Shropshire against Owen Patterson and narrowly lost. I told him that if Labour would agree to reverse Lord Mackay's legal aid cuts I would vote for him. His response? "There are no votes in saying you are going to pay more money to lawyers, David". Having voted Labour in the past, I there and then resolved never to do so again. All they want is the power, they could not give a Jack Straw about the fate of the less well off.

"The working class can kiss my a..e, I've got the foreman's job at last".
