So who decides what is in the public interest, out of touch politicians? Let's explore a little...was it in the public interest, according to said politicians, to give legal aid to the, so called, Guildford Four, the Birmingham Six, how about Colin Stagg? Or Barry George, or is it not in the public interest to know who really killed Jill Dando?
All of these people would still be in prison...and many more, if it weren't for legal aid. Mr Clarke, as well as Chris Grayling are way off base, here. The public have the right to access to justice, and this is enshrined in the Magna Carta, which Chris Grayling paraded for all the world to see, for purely economic reasons in London, recently.
Stop undermining our justice system, look at it and make changes that will improve it, not remove it from the reach of the under-privileged...or are they just the undeserving?
