As the threshold for RTA portal claims increased by 250% two years ago, an increase in claims going through the portal is entirely to be expected. Furthermore, the fact that the portal threshold is so high means that serious injuries are now also included in the figures, as well as whiplash. Finally, there is an ongoing problem with duplicate claims which will inevitably affect the figures. For all these reasons, portal figures are a completely unreliable measure for whiplash claims.
