ECHR was set up by UK so that Hitlerism or something like it couldn't gain a hold again. It was our idea. It arose out of a revulsion for oppression and violence. Whilst I have used it for good against the power of oppressive local government, the fact is that it has itself become a shield for the violent and oppressive. The danger in this proposal is that (in order to defenestrate enemies of the state) Sir Humphrey will use it as a means to have his little way, which is all that he or any abuser wants. The drafting will be very interesting. It isn't a crime to want to have our own law drafted in accordance with British principles. We will still be subject to the European Court of justice, but not the ECHR.
