Would any of you like to be treated by Doctors or Nurses who have access to the internet to look up how things are done? Or would you prefer to be treated by a Doctor or a Nurse who is trained and registered to a standard that is acceptable throughout the world? Would you allow your 'friend' to come in and do your surgery as they happen to be free that day?
All professions are under attack and costs are being cut every where possible. It doesn't mean that the cuts are acceptable or indeed should be used everywhere.
The person who makes your bed in hospital doesn't need to be qualified (as they once did). The person who performs some medical procedures doesn't always need to have qualified as a doctor, but needs to be qualified in that particular area. The same goes for the law. There are some areas in which a qualified solicitor would be best, in others where a paralegal is best and even others where an unqualified person is best suited. Surely discussion should take place to discover where the areas lie.
