We will never know if it was a joke or sanctioned at the last partners meeting. It does not matter. The mistake was to post on behalf the firm, otherwise its just a silly joke. However there is too much trial by Internet and lawyers more than most should think before they post. Since gladiatorial combat ceased to be legal we seem to take an increased delight in public shaming and personal destruction while we we sit back and watch the 'blood' flow. It's either via postings such as this, social media or reality tv. The common denominator is public humiliation, public condemnation culminating in a hysterical outcry, with somebody getting hurt or 'virtually' destroyed. Lives are ruined. It would almost be kinder and more honest to actually feed our 'victim' to the lions or decapitate them. Frankly we should all think a bit more and just grow up and shut up. Move on please.
