What makes me laugh about this "debate" is the reek of hypocrisy both among firms and those seeking to argue for parity of opportunity.

The fact is that whatever your particular brand of war poem might suggest, the business world operates purely from the standpoint of utility.

Thus, on the one hand, firms welcome women applicants because they are cheaper to employ than their male counterparts; then, having saved themselves the cost of employing men they try to turn women away from being women by denying them the choice of having children.

On the other hand, if women insisted on being paid exactly the same as their male counterparts instead of selling out their principles to steal the advantage at interview, how diverse would the profession really be?

The utility reality for businesses is that if you employ women, you save on salary but run the risk of their having babies and disrupting your business plan at some future date. But, if you don't want this risk, you need to dig deeper into your budgets and pay a man size salary. You can't have your cake and eat it!
