I know a lot of lawyers who, over the years, have done pro bono work without even thinking about it.
There was a saying "Fleece not the shorn lamb" and, as a country practice in the early 1980s, we worked to that and, subsequently, my private practice work always included that element. Many jobs for the less financially advantaged were simply billed cheap or written off in a way that didn't offend the Client with the hint of 'charity'.
I don't need my morals dictated by these sanctimonious onanists.
I'm sure that the lawyers working corporate and international can't wait to give their Clients a break so as to allow them to increase profit margins (sorry, let that read pay their workers a living wage).
I shall, this November, be delighted to bid the 'profession' a soldier's farewell!
