Morally if you can’t afford a solicitor why should you be deprived of the choice of using an MKF? The bulk of the UK population simply cannot afford to pay solicitors fees to represent them in court. The law society has made no attempt to solve this problem.
On a different track I do recall, I think, Mr Goldsmith in the Gazette writing that European legislation required lawyers to have PII. If MKF are fulfilling the function of a lawyer and the Courts don’t require them to have PII is there a breach of European legislation
