@ anonymous 1:33pm, I agree those factors would appear in SOME cases, but the recommendation (and supposed rationale behind it) is to stop budgeting in all child cases. Indeed, budgeting in liability/causation disputes would be even more vital. Furthermore, if it were simply to accommodate IP applications, why not rule change to make these "stand alone" proceedings?

The budget system is being scapegoated for the apparent inability of the system to cope with its caseload. It ignores the fact many cases were issued "early" to avoid the massive hike in Court fees

I for one do not understand the resistance to budgeting, unless it is the case parties representatives really are so scared of telling the other side , and their own clients, how much profit they expect to make out of that one case? Further, Budgets are so much more than just figures, if you know how to read them correctly
