I did hear of a similar one in the late 80s / early 90s (hopefully true!) where one solicitor wrote to the other saying "This matter would have proceeded a lot more quickly if the party on the other side had not been represented by a c**t" and received a reply saying only "Thank you for your letter, which I have forwarded to the Law Society" (who, in those days, probably did nothing at all with it).
