the work involved in an infants case is a lot for what we get paid because we have to do the portal then if a figure is agreed we have to draft poc, complete part 8 form, attach a medical report, pay the disbursement for approval which is incidentally more than we get for the hearing including our travel. I then write the advice on quantum, take a statement from the lit friend and then attend court to discuss the case with the judge. I have to read the advice before the hearing to remind myself of whats what. I have to re read the medical report and then the case is never called on time often upto an hour late. I have to explain all this to the lit friend and discuss investment options. I really don't think the expenses of the firm involved in running the file are covered let alone a profit. With respect some judges should see exactly what expenses there are to run a firm and how much the firm needs to earn per hour to just run. We shouldn't be the wiping boys for a system brought in by this government. This is what they legislated on so don't punish us for what we already see as wrong in principal ie the deduction of damages from minors. Don't forget success fees pay for cases you loose as well.
