Much of the problem is that on issues such as this the Society is captured by a leftwing groupthink that really does not comprehend that anyone doesn't share their view.

The reality is that most law abiding citizens that are not legal system professionals and are not engaged in small business debt collection enter a court building (not necessarily their local court building) fewer than a dozen times in their life.

Life for those in rural areas, those with disabilities and lower income families is said to be made more difficult. How far are they willing to travel to get to an airport, a university, a hospital, a prison or a superstore? Why then should the taxpayer generally make a court service available to them on their doorstep? In the case of the disabled; often it is the courts in big cities that are more accessible.

For legal professionals, it is swings and roundabouts whether local courts are better. The detective or the social worker who has to travel from the county town and the barrister, expert witness or solicitor who has to stay overnight because the train service from London is inadequate or non-existent offsets against the local solicitor or beat officer who can walk to court from her office or police station
