What a joke. Even now most judges are disdainful, sometimes contemptuous, of dealing with solicitors as opposed to their fellow barristers. One just cant imagine a judge dealing with a party pro se where the presentation would be erratic and disorganised, not like the conventional ritualistic format which the Court requires. In the US, eg, there are small claims courts where the judges actually assist the pro se parties to develop their claims or defenses. But there are no "Judge Judies" sitting on the bench in the UK.
