Oswestry Magistrates' Court closed more than 5 years ago. We still pay £20K pa to keep it empty. It is just one of six Shropshire Magistrates' Courts that have closed in my time and many of them are still empty money pits.
Fine words from the LCJ but no indication of how to get these buildings used so that the local community, having lost the service, does not suffer still further for years to come with these albatrosses of rationalisation hanging round their tired necks.
Oh yes - I too wonder who is paying for the LCJ to be half way round the world delivering such vapid twaddle.
