So eight posts on here worrying about, in various ways, the arrangements for public funding of duty solicitor work...since 128 people were massacred in Paris because of French involvement in the middle East. We are next on their hit list. May I respectfully suggest that that threat is more important and that we at least make a start by closing our borders, giving our security forces all the powers they ask for, abolishing the HRA and getting out of Europe? Apart from the physical dangers and threats if we do not do so, there will be a distinct shift to the right politically here, just as there will be in France.

And for once, just once, I agree with Comrade Corbyn and the speech he was due to make today on foreign policy. British foreign policy in the middle east over the last 15 years has been a disaster. Thank you Tony Blair, Peter Goldsmith, Jack Straw et al. What a whole, bloody mess you have got us into!

The last conversation I had in France before leaving in October ended with my friend saying solemnly "la prochaine guerre mondiale a deja commence".

There won't be any duty solicitor work to be publicly funded if we all get killed!
