I quite agree, Anon 1.52. His much awaited 'letter' was, as Jakob (I have never possessed a pair of jeans) Rees-Mogg said in parliament 'it's pretty thin gruel'. I only hope that he does not once again find a way to welsh (can I use that term in this PC world?) on his promise to hold one. But then I fear he may say the decision is not binding on him, or on parliament.

So it is up to us to vote decisively for our coming out. That assumes, of course, that the pressures now bearing down on the EU do not cause it to break up sooner. The strains are beginning to tell despite all this talk about 'solidarity'. Each member state has a different agenda from the others.

And BTW I don't have a lot of sympathy for any French government after it sank the Rainbow Warrior in 1985 and, in all probability, killed my hero, Emile Zola in 1901 (listen to Radio 4 tomorrow, Monday 16 at 16.00 for confirmation) and kicked off the Franco-Prussian war 1870-71. They will use violence when it suits them to do so.
