"If RTA whiplash claims are being driven by fraudulent claimants deciding to make bogus claims, why isn't it happening in non-RTA claims too? Surely a soft tissue injury like a twisted ankle or a shoulder strain - or even a whiplash - is as easy to fake in a workplace claim as in an RTA?"

The difference is that an RTA claim is made against an unknown third party and the chances of getting caught lying are minimal.

A fake workplace claim involves having to lie to people you know personally, and to keep on lying for months on end. It's a damn sight harder to keep up a lie in that situation than it is in a RTA claim, and the consequences of being found out are much more personally upsetting, even potentially leading to a loss of your job.
