Anon at 11.15 is closer to the reality of the situation. Which is that to legislate to remove the right to claim damages for PSLA for "minor whiplash injuries" is indeed totally unworkable, but that doesn't matter. The same but a wider result will effectively be achieved by the raising of the small claims limit to £5k.

So why has Osborne thrown in the other guff? Possibly he doesn't understand the legal concepts.

Or possibly he does, and is seeking to win greater plaudits from the uninitiated "hard-working" voter for his meaningless attack upon whiplash claimants while diverting attention from the impact upon other claimants. Nowhere in the popular press that I have seen has this been picked up on.

The antics of the CMC's and daytime-advertising claims factories have made me diffident about owning up to being a PI lawyer. Fortunately for me, I was already approaching retirement within 2 years. Osborne has doubtless now accelerated this. I feel sorry for all the younger PI lawyers and their families. And for the vast majority of accident victims who will no longer have any worthwhile legal redress.
