Are we really all that surprised? The Insurance Industry is backed by rich investors who are most probably well connected within Tory circles and crave profit. Plus the entire legal system is in decline and this is in my opinion a result of years of a sterile society who's only tool is to raise a tepid voice of objection to changes which then often get pushed through in any event to little to no resistance. Lawyers are an easy target. Look at the GMC, strikes, work to rule etc for changes to doctors contracts. Lawyers fail to act together. If we had week long national strikes supported by EVERY firm, neither government or private business could be serviced, then the pressure would mount on the government. Unfortunately, in this profession too many people are only interested in themselves and won't give up profits by banding together for the greater good. Be interesting to see how long the LS lasts once the profession is de-regulated and membership is no longer compulsory. Moving regulation to the SRA was the 1st step in servicing abolition in my opinion...I can only believe there is more to come...
