If this comes in it isn't difficult to foresee piles of litigation about the true value of general damages in a case. Is it worth £4900 or is it worth £5100? As though there is really any answer. And the answer you get will depend on the prejudices of the judge.

I'd already made a decision to retire in a couple of years when my current caseload has run its course.

By that stage I will been doing this, Claimant PI and Clin Neg for the best part of 40 years. I'm concerned that I live in a country where ordinary people's rights are treated with contempt. I cannot work any longer in a system where I am a pariah for trying to enforce those rights and where my life's work is looked upon as worthless.

Perhaps I should have a politician.........oh!
